Ang Thong Marine Park

Ang Thong, literally Golden Bowl, is a National Marine Park established on 1980. It's a beautiful archipelago located 30 km. west of Samui.
Ang Thong covers an area of approx. 250 km² and it include more than forty spectacular limestone islands.
All islands are unihabitated and undeveloped, except one: Ko Paluay, inhabitated by the sea-gypsie.

Ang Thong is famous for its natural beauty: it offers unspoiled white sandy beaches, caves and hidden lagoons.

Ang Thong is a nature protected area: its fauna includes sixteen species of mammals like langurs, otters, monkeys and hogs; fiftyfour species of birds, fourteen species of reptiles and five species of amphibians.
The waters of Ang Thong National Marine Park are home to Parrot fish, Butterfly fish, Angel fish, Mackerel, Blacktip reef sharks, dolphins and, sometimes, whales.

The only one Park's Visitors Centre is located in Ko Wau Talap.
Ko Wua Talap offers probably the best archipelago's panoramic view: a view point located 430 meters above the sea level that can be reached after a thirty minutes walk.

The Emerald Lagoon, Ko Mae
Ko Mae - traslates as Mother Island- and its Emerald Lagoonn are the main Park's tourist attractions: after a forty minutes walk you will find the famous Emerald Lagoon (Talay Nai in Thai), an emerald seawater lake, bordered all around by vertical limestone cliffs, created and linked to the sea by natural underground tunnels.
