How to get there
Flights to Samui

A319 Bangkok Airways at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok
By air is the most comfortable way to get to Samui: Bangkok Airways offers more than fifteen daily flights from Bangkok. The flight takes about one hour and service on board is excellent. There are also direct flights from Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur (by Firefly). Since 14 February 2009, also Thai Airways offers twice daily flights from Bangkok.

Samui's airport was built on early '90 by Bangkok Airways; it has been recently renovated and classified as Boutique Airport.

Air-con bus
Air-conditioned buses leave Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal (see Map details) for Surat Thani - Samui several times daily. The trip takes about 13 hours, ferry from Donsak included.

Seatran Ferry
Seatran Ferry and Raya Ferry connect Samui to the mainland several times daily, from 5:00 am till 6:00 pm.
Seatran Ferries arrives at Nathon pier; Raja Ferries arrives at Thong Yang - Lipa Noi pier, located approx. 5 km. south of Nathon.
Air-con bus + high speed catamaran
Lomprayah offers a good option: air-conditioned bus from Bangkok to Chumphon Province, located approx. 200 km. north of Surat Thani town.

Samui by train
Several trains leave Bangkok's Hualumphong Railway Station for Surat Thani daily (Southern Line).
Personally I recommended the Overnight Sleeper Trains that leave Hualumphong Station in the evening and arrive in Surat Thani on early morning. Train-bus-ferry combinated tickets are also available at Hualumphong Station. The trip takes about 13-14 hours, sea transfer from Donsak included.
